Day by Day: itinerary for a 3-day gorilla trekking safari in Mgahinga National Park:
Day 1: Arrival and Transfer to Mgahinga National Park
- Arrive at either Entebbe International Airport or Kigali International Airport, depending on your travel arrangements.
- Meet your guide and transfer to Mgahinga National Park. If arriving at Entebbe, the drive to Mgahinga takes approximately 8-9 hours. If arriving at Kigali, it takes about 3-4 hours to drive to the park, crossing the border into Uganda.
- Check in at your lodge near Mgahinga National Park and relax for the rest of the day.
- Take this opportunity to familiarize yourself with the surroundings and enjoy the scenic views.
Day 2: Gorilla Trekking in Mgahinga National Park
- Wake up early and have a delicious breakfast at your lodge.
- Head to the Mgahinga National Park headquarters for a briefing on gorilla trekking guidelines and safety procedures.
- Meet your experienced guide and trek through the forest in search of the mountain gorillas.
- The trek can take several hours, ranging from 2 to 6 hours, depending on the location of the gorilla group.
- Once you locate the gorilla group, spend approximately one hour observing them in their natural habitat, taking photos, and learning about their behaviors from your guide.
- After the gorilla encounter, trek back to the park headquarters.
- In the afternoon, you can participate in optional activities such as exploring the Batwa Pygmy community or taking a nature walk in the park.
- Return to your lodge and spend the evening relaxing and reflecting on your incredible gorilla trekking experience.
Day 3: Departure
- Enjoy a leisurely breakfast at your lodge, soaking in the last moments of the beautiful surroundings.
- Check out from your lodge and transfer back to either Entebbe or Kigali, depending on your departure location.

- Finally, your driver will drop you off at the airport for your departure flight or to your next destination.
